Ode to the home
My neice and nephews inaugerated my new condo by running and sliding on the hardwood floor.Their shouts bounced off the walls.
I had made chile and filled a bowl with tortillas for everyone to dine on. My sister and her husband's kids got hot chocolate and while us adults sipped champagne. It was scene right out of HGTV's House Hunters television show - the program always conculdes with the happy new homeowner throwing a wonderful party for their friends or family. Except this was better than TV because the story continues.
To celebrate not only my new place but also the start of the holiday season, my artifical tree stood in the corner - its' white tinkle lights were lit but the branches were bare of any ornaments. It was a blank canvas for my neices, nephews and I to display ornaments. Although many ornaments only ardorn the tree's waist or lower, I am still impressed with the job the youngsters did. When I was their age, I was often chastized for lumping multiple ornaments on the same branch.
The entertianment continued with everyone attempting to squeeze onto my two-seater sofa to watch "Cars" - unfortunately I have no children's holiday movies.
There was a lot to clebrate that night and now that I think of it, I couldn't come up with a better beginning to living in my new place.
