Remedy to a hard day

After long hours at work - the ones littered with an anixieties, moments of panic, frustrations and annoynances, it seems conventional  to go to the gym or maybe uncork a wine bottle. After one  of those grueling days at the office, I scrapped the conventional for something unconventional. I laid carpet.
The carpet tiles had been sitting in cardboard boxes in my pantry closet for a week. Together, they would form a rug to go underneath my kitchen table. I never found the right moment to cut the boxes open and create this rug but the moment appeared Friday evening. Laying carpet tiles allowed me to escape from stewing over the imperfections of my day. Crouching on the floor, I pieced the carpet tiles together and my day melted away. As the rug progressed so did my state of mind. Things that bothered me during the work day had lessened their sting. By the time the rug was finished and the table was moved onto it, I didn't feel downtrodden; I felt elated.
My work had produced a positive result - my living room is snazzier than ever before. It felt good to stand back and admire what I accomplished. Who knew a group of carpet tiles could be an antedote to a bad day?

My new rug!
