A whole new world of possibilities
Well, it took about a month, a few crumbled essay drafts and a handful of puzzling moments trying to remember an old workplace phone number but I did it. On a Monday evening I played hooky from my usual exercise class to submit my application to the Peace Corps.
Where it goes from here, who can say. The possibility, however, puts a kick in my step and churns excitement inside my stomach.
I could leave the windowless cubicle, the routine work days behind me and venture into something that would be truly challenging and poignant.
My head is full of daydreams of where I would go, who I would meet and what work I would do but at this point it is all just fantasties. Whatever reality will come of my decision remains locked up, completely covered in mystery.
I read the admission process is lengthy and I know I will sit on pins and needles, waiting for the end result to present itself. Will it actually happen? Where will this path lead me? I'll keep you posted.
