Appreciate the little things
It would seem I need to enjoy the little things because all the big, exciting things are on temporary hold.
So in the spirit of finding joy in my surroundings, I invited my mom, sister and niece for a tea party at my house earlier this month.
I bought a box of tea as well as bread, a cucumber and cream cheese to make cucumber tea sandwiches. Mom bought some sweets from Fleur de Lys. I pulled out my nicest napkins and a matching set of plates. The table, all set with the two bouquets of flowers my mom also purchased, looked pretty. There were a few setbacks. I recently got rid of my one and only tea set so we had to drink tea from coffee mugs. Plus, my Pyrex measuring cup filled with water took forever to boil in my microwave.
Despite these minor inconveniences we had a good time talking, laughing and eating. I hadn't seen my sister or niece in weeks so it was wonderful to see them. My heart filled up with gratitude to have other people in my house. It is really novelty these days for there to be any other living soul in my house other than myself and Milo.
So in summary, my tea party totally rocked. It doesn't matter that I didn't drink any of the tea because I don't like tea or that my sister brought her own lunch in Tupperware. We were all together and we all had fun. Gotta appreciate the little things.
